Bristol treasures: St Nicholas Market

8 May 2012

One of my favourite places to visit in Bristol is St Nicholas Market in the old Corn Exchange, one of the oldest parts of the city. I was in town on my bike last week to run some errands, and couldn’t resist popping in.There’s an incredible food hall filled with independent stalls from around the world (and Bristol!); fresh smoothies, hot chocolate, Moroccan, Italian, South African, Jamaican, and Bristol’s famous Pieminister pies – it’s amazing. When I worked in town, my offices were right next door so you can guess where I was at lunchtime!

Tucked behind the food is a maze of independent shops, linked by little cobbled streets, selling records, books, vintage clothes, sweets, jewellery and, my favourite, the knitting and haberdashery shop. This spot is well known to Bristolians, and a must-see if you’re ever visiting the city.
