Jessica Joy

Knitwear designer, teacher and author

Hi! I’m Jess, a.k.a Jessica Joy. I live in the beautiful city of Bristol in the south west of England and I’m a knitwear designer and author. On this website you’ll find my knitting patterns and jewellery for sale, as well as a plethora of inspiration, DIYs and video tutorials on my blog.

I began knitting in 2009 after feeling a huge urge to learn a traditional craft and make something useful with my hands. I got this book as a birthday present and that was it. I knew as soon as I held a pair of needles for the first time that I’d found a new passion. I spent every spare moment hoovering up morsels of information I found on YouTube, in books and on blogs.

From the outset I was fascinated with pattern design and knowing how pieces were put together. I’ve recently finished writing my first book, Knitting Smitten, which will be published by Quadrille in April and is available to pre-order now. I’m also honoured to have a pattern featured in Kate Smith’s craft book, Makery. Please see the press section for other national features.

In my spare time I like to run, eat porridge, grow vegetables (badly), take photos, play my trumpet and attempt to learn French. If you have any questions, are interested in a wholesale order, or just want to say hi, pop me a message on my contact page. I love a friendly email!
